Oak trees share root systems between trees via graphs depending on the size and location of the trees. The root systems can have massive spreads in which many trees in a forest will all share root systems....However, when it comes to Oak Wilt this is detrimental as the disease Oak Wilt can travel through root graphs and kill nearby trees...One successful method of control is to break the root graphs and thus stop the spread of the disease. If you have further questions please feel free to contact one of our arborist for a consultation.

Over land transmission happens when SAP beetles carry the disease to a wound on a healthy tree ...SAP beetles are a vector in transporting the Oak Wilt fungus ....a SAP beetle will feed on an infected tree and then take and carry the disease to a healthy tree and once they begin feeding on the SAP of a healthy tree they will transport the disease into the vascular system of the healthy tree thus infecting the healthy tree.... the only way that this can happen is if there is an open wound on the tree from storm damage or pruning. It is critical to avoid wounding and all pruning on an Oak tree during the growing season. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact one of our arborist for a consultation.

The number one cause of the spread of OAK WILT is due to the improper pruning practices of "TREE SERVICES". As the customer, you should never allow "TREE SERVICES" to prune your Oak Trees during the growing season. If your Oak Trees are pruned during the growing season there is a good possibility that they will contract Oak Wilt; at which point death is certain. If you have further questions please feel free to contact one of our arborist for a consultation.

Oak wilt is an obligate parasite...Which means it needs a living host in order to stay alive and reproduce, once it has killed its host it must move to a new host in order to stay alive. If you have further questions please feel free to contact one of our arborist for a consultation.

This calendar has been created to give our customers a reference to when it is safe to prune Oak trees to avoid the spread of Oak Wilt.

what people say

  • Jared and his Team at Get-R-Cut did an excellent job removing two trees in our back yard and trimming 4 large oaks we had in our front yard. I have worked with Jared on other projects in the past and I will continue to call on Jared for future projects.
    Eloy Martinez

  • They took our two trims, did other trimming and cleaned up well. I am totally satisfied with their work and recommend them. They went beyond expectations.
    John Jack

  • 65 year old Willows, several pines and a few oaks that were damaged had to be removed, Jared and his team were thorough, on time, professional. Clean up was great, they didn't damage the yard which was very wet from major rain. The yard looked great and we hosted a wedding that summer. Over 10 trees and brush removed... it was a huge job. Took less than 5 days I believe. We will use them again.
