Upon arriving to a clients home, they asked me to evaluate a large number of arborvitaes that have been planted in their flower beds. The arborvitaes were chlorotic and had sparse foliage. The customer also had planted several spruce trees in the same location and they did not survive. The reason they did not survive is because they were planted underneath walnut trees. Walnut trees send out a toxin through the root systems that will kill other trees competing for nutrients and space. Remember right tree right place is always critical. In this case, the clients could have saved a lot of money if they would have had a consultation prior to planting. Remember, if you have questions regarding tree planting, you can call one of our arborist for a consultation.
As spring quickly approaches, the beautiful Bradford Pear will soon be in bloom. Well its beauty is unmatched by any other tree, it does have some structural defects that can lead to premature failure. Being trained as an arborist, we can identify the tree's weaknesses. We can also put support systems in that will enable the tree to reach full maturity; even though it has some defects in the tree. If you have a Bradford pear that you would like to keep and preserve, please call one of our arborist for a consultation.
What should you do with an ash tree that is dead and on a critical Dune?
We recommend that you cut the tree down and leave the stump in place to hold the hillside together and prevent erosion. If the tree is left standing and tips over pulling the root ball out it will cause major erosion issues. As always you can call one of our arborist for a consultation.
