Why in the world would we prune trees in the wintertime? I mean seriously why? It is so cold in Michigan during the winter, why would we be out pruning trees in the cold and snowy weather? These weather conditions however, are very favorable for oak tree pruning. In Michigan we have a disease called Oak Wilt and the best time of year to prune oak trees is in the winter! Many of our clients have oak trees. So, this is a perfect scenario for our clients. Oak trees need to be pruned during the dormant season, which is the winter. The oak trees are dormant, the fungus is dormant and the insect that transports the disease is dormant. This essentially lowers the risk of infection of the tree. This equals perfect timing for oak pruning. If you have more questions on Oak Wilt please contact us at our office or check out our YouTube channel on the subject.
