Upon arriving to a clients home, they asked me to evaluate a large number of arborvitaes that have been planted in their flower beds. The arborvitaes were chlorotic and had sparse foliage. The customer also had planted several spruce trees in the same location and they did not survive. The reason they did not survive is because they were planted underneath walnut trees. Walnut trees send out a toxin through the root systems that will kill other trees competing for nutrients and space. Remember right tree right place is always critical. In this case, the clients could have saved a lot of money if they would have had a consultation prior to planting. Remember, if you have questions regarding tree planting, you can call one of our arborist for a consultation.
